One of the projects on which we have been working is ‘Monkswood’, a classic motor launch, built in Cornwall over 100 years ago. She is clinker built using the finest materials available in those days: Honduras or brazilian mahogany planking on steamed oak frames, copper riveted.
Originally built as a pleasure craft, she has been use as a ‘work boat’ for several decades and still is nowadays.
This refit/restoration, is the biggest she’s had for 20 years and has brought this amazing boat back to life , and work, for many more years to come.
‘Monkswood’ is often visible in Mylor Yacht Harbour as this is where it is based.
Mylor Rigging owns her and uses her on a daily basis as a workhorse.
This year she benefited from a new engine box and engine control box as well as a couple of coats of varnish and freshly painted topsides.
