Adjacent to the master bedroom this Oak dressing room has been created with the need of the customer in mind.
To the left, full height wardrobes, with sliding and swinging doors, mirrors in and out, hanging rails and shelves within. To the right, fitted furniture with soft close drawers and shelving. Solid decorative Oak cornice to the ceiling.
In front is a dual pull-out shoe storage and cupboard. All materials are high quality with furniture birch ply for the carcasses, Solid European oak for everything else.
This Oak wheel house was made traditionally using mortice/tenon joints, solid shaped oak beams and Fir Tongue and groove for the roof, and will also have bronze port holes . It is to be fitted to a square rigged Tall Ship (‘Kaskelot’) and will replace the existing one which is being scrapped. The ship has been undergoing a very large restoration/refit.
As part of the job we were also asked to make this high quality traditional companion way with sliding hatch and lockers. Fitted above galley and heads, it will help ventilation and provide access down below.
Approximately 4 tons of air dried European oak were used to manufacture those 2 pieces of naval joinery.
An oak door canopy/porch was fitted to protect a new hardwood traditional door and door frame. The timber is air dried Cornish oak and boarded on the underside with larch. Structure is slated to match the roof of the cottage.
These contemporary doors are made of European Oak, double glazed and insulated. They were designed with the customer and compliment the entrance porch to the property. They are fitted with 5 points locking mechanism and Stainless steel hardware.
Those hardwood casement windows are made traditionally to the highest standards. Double glazed, they comply with building regulations and match the existing windows. They will be stained and fitted to a cottage’s extension.
A range of hatches and other joinery for boats.
Some Yellow pine shelves were added to this living room to create books and artifacts storage as well as a tv/dvd player unit matching the shelves. The brackets are concealed and the finish is clear lacquer to retain the beauty and color of this wood.
This custom made staircase was designed and created in close collaboration with the customers. Its shape represents the Spiral of Infinity, it was made to fit the entrance hallway of a beautifully restored farm house. Crafted with the best quality chestnut, full width boards were used for the treads, with cut string and dissymmetric shaped handrail.
The bottom step often referred as the bullnose step is curved into an existing step, and house the newel post with hand carved volute on top.
The staircase is finished using a natural oil/wax which retains the original colour of the wood whilst being hard wearing and easy to clean and maintain.
Discussed and designed with the customer to match her needs and fit its surroundings, this full height, 3 sliding louvre doors , built-in oak wardrobe is fitted out with shelving with incorporated height adjustment. Its natural wax finish gives it a contemporary aspect whilst being easy to clean and pleasing to the eye.
This staircase was designed and made to fit a traditional farmhouse which has been entirely renovated to the highest standards. It is made of Prime quality European oak, with full width solid treads and strings. The handrail ‘scroll’ is hand carved.The upper flight is built with open risers to allow passage for the light from the half landing window.
